2018 Citroen C3 Aircross Review; Small Adventurer
Read our comprehensive review of the 2018 Citroen C3 Aircross standard features, Redesign and Changes Interior Exterior Colours, Price, and Release Date. The New Citroen C3 Aircross invests the urban jungle with a typical Citroen approach, characterized by an original style and cozy comfort.
Revealed to the public as part of the trade show currently being held in Frankfurt, the C3 Aircross has just passed through our hands for a first Test gallop. Its original and sympathetic boil, in the vein of the city-dweller C3 and the unclassifiable Cactus, attracts the glances. It remains to be verified whether, for use, this urban SUV holds all its promises.
2018 Citroen C3 Aircross Interior
SUV, the term appears somewhat overused because, like many of its rivals, the C3 Aircross is devoid of integral transmission. But the insolent success of the Renault capture proves that a majority of customers do not care. Citroen, like Peugeot, is content to offer a Grip Control option (€300), an advanced antiskid, coupled with downhill assistance.
Aesthetically, the replacement of the Trispace C3 Picasso has everything from the adventurer: increased ground clearance (17.5 cm), wing flares, protection clogs, roof bars. We observe the disappearance of Airbumps that were not everyone’s taste. From the top of its 1.64 meter, the C3 Aircross fleeces the crossovers. There is hardly that Crossland X to take it up. And because of this, they come out of the same Opel factory, located in Zaragoza, Spain.
A panoramic sunroof.
The German brand wanted the replacement of the Meriva to retain a look of the minivan. It imposed on its French partner an inclined windscreen and thicker amounts than those of the C3 Picasso. This limits the visibility in the left turns. Other remains of the minivan, a relative narrowness and a driving position perched ten centimetres higher than in a sedan.
The C3 Aircross driver benefits as much as the Hood’s outlines are easy to identify. The city dwellers will appreciate, as is a length of 4.15 meters, the camera back and the parking help. The standing of the Citroen urban SUV can be enhanced with a panoramic sunroof (€850), and a high-head display coupled with a wireless recharge for smartphone (€650).
Well in its time, the 2018 Citroen C3 Aircross is customizable to the ENVI. Between the eight body shades, the four roofs and the different colours available for mirrors, rear louvers and roof bars, it is no less than eighty combinations that are offered to the purchaser. Not to mention the four interior atmospheres.
The dashboard includes the instrumentation handset and the C3 Central tablet, but it is characterized by a more robust appearance. The storage is numerous and well designed, the finish neat. However, we would have preferred direct access to the air conditioning settings, rather than having to look for them in the screen.
An optional high-head display.
Comfortably seated in large and fluffy armchairs, provided to avoid the leather option, we tried the version Puretech 110 EAT6, in other words that powered by a 3-cylinder turbo petrol coupled with an automatic box, the combination Perfect for mixed city/road use.
Apart from a few short-strokes at low speed, this binomial has seduced us with its availability and its playful character. We liked less his deafening rumble and his relative voracity found on a test run punctuated by strong grades. At the end of our test, the on-board computer indicated 8 L/100 km, or 2 L/100 km more than with a diesel version BlueHDi 120.
As for the legendary Citroen comfort, it is verified with a 2018 C3 Aircross, which furthers your vertebrae than a 2008 resting on the same platform. The settings of the SUV are nevertheless more firm than those of the city of C3, with the pointers having preferred to limit the roll. The ideal would have been that the C3 Aircross benefits from hydraulic shock absorbers, under development. But, it is another model of the range that will return the privilege of inaugurating their effect “flying carpet”.
It remains to be mentioned the secret boot of Citroen’s small SUV: a unique carrying capacity and modularity in the category. Thanks to a 15-centimetre sliding back seat, inherited from the C3 Picasso, the capacity of the trunk varies from 410 to 520 litres. By flipping the seats, we get even 1,289 liters and a flat floor. Also convenient, the backrest of the front seat that flaps to offer a useful length of 2.40 meters.
The 2018 Citroen C3 Aircross takes the small train of the urban SUV in motion, but the freshness of its design, its remarkable comfort and its astute modularity should enable it to fill its delay. The temptation will be even greater as its tariff, ranging from €15,950 to €23,950, appears very attractive.
