New-After the coupe and the Flying convertible, Aston Martin and its historical partner Zagato present a Speedster and a shooting Brake based on Vanquish, animated by a musical V12.
“The relationship with Aston Martin started with my grandfather, almost sixty years ago.” A creative marriage that thrives for three generations is something as unique as the cars themselves. My family name is associated with all kinds of wonderful designs, but for many fans and collectors from all over the world, those who combine the Z of Zagato with the wings of Aston Martin are the most remarkable. said Andrea Zagato, as part of the week devoted to the automobile collection and exception held in Pebble Beach, California.
The duo Aston Martin and Zagato presents its latest creation, a Speedster on base Vanquish. Produced in only 28 copies, this radical variant comes in addition to the coupe and the flywheel, revealed in 2016, to form a rare trio that will eventually be complemented by a Shooting Brake. Like the coupe and the steering wheel, the latter will be published in 99 copies. Zagato states that the manufacturer of the 325 cars will be completed in 2019.
In the meantime, this is a Speedster that parades in Pebble Beach, one year after the revelation of the steering wheel that took place in the same location. Like the coupe and the steering wheel, the Speedster is equipped with the monumental atmospheric V12 Aston Martin of 6 liters of cylinder capacity. It develops here 600 ch, like the Vanquish S, and the Speedster also borrows its automatic 8-speed gearbox.
The Zagato signature, a double-humped roof originally designed to pass the helmet of the drivers of its racing cars in the 50 years, is here transposed in the extension of the headrests and highlighted by an apparent carbon finish, the material used to manufacture the entire bodywork.
This famous double boss will also distinguish the shooting Brake, which the Italian bodybuilder only delivers a profile view for the moment. He states, however, that the roof of his hunting break will be equipped with glass inserts to allow the light to penetrate into a cockpit which, if he remains a strict two places, shall possess the attributes of the great tourism, including a dedicated baggage line.
As for the 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Volante Price, it will be more than €700,000 for the Shooting Brake and the million euros for the Speedster which will be even rarer. To the question, why create a whole family of models symbol Zagato, Marek Reichman Director of the Aston Martin style responds: “Many of our clients are clamoring for different things.” Some prefer the purity of a coupe, but others like the idea of something more extreme, like the Speedster. “And, some of them have ordered a copy of each.” By the way, no need to start saving, the entire production would have already found a taker.
