Behind a christening name that refers to a popular Italian seaside resort, the Ferrari Portofino replaces the California T. Its V8 now delivers 600 horsepower.

To be seventy years old seems to give Ferrari wings. After an exclusive series of anniversary models and the commercialization of the 812 Superfast, the firm of Maranello reveals the Portofino. If its baptismal name refers to a popular seaside resort in Liguria, this new model aims to replace the California T. Thanks to new developments based on rods, pistons, new design of the intake system and one-piece exhaust manifold in cast iron, the power of the V8 3.8 liters Biturbo progresses from 40 horsepower compared to the California T. It now stands at 600 horsepower at 7 500 rpm while the torque reaches 760 Nm, from 3 000 to 5 250 rpm. Performance is definitely progressing. In addition to more vigorous times, the 0 to 100 km/h is now swallowed in 3.5 seconds. In his release, Ferrari takes care to point out that the engineers have particularly cared for the sound. Hair in the wind, this convertible should feast on its occupants of vocalizations.
Full of technology.

Ferrari did not simply increase the power. The Portofino boasts a significant reduction in weight and an increase in the stiffness of the crate thanks to the use of lightweight materials. The Portofino is also the first model of the family of the brand’s convertibles to access the rear electronic differential (E-Diff 3) coupled with the F1-Trac system. Like the 812 Superfast, the Portofino converted to the electrical direction. The design has also been the subject of special attention. Fruit of the home-style office, the line appears more aggressive. The grille adopts a new design, the front cover incorporates air intakes, flanks are largely dug, the outer edges of the optics are occupied by air intakes and the taillights are now placed at the ends. Ferrari took advantage of it to lighten the rigid roof which can now be operated by rolling, at reduced speed. Open roof, a baffle reduces the air flow in the cockpit by 30%.

Finally, the cockpit is bent on the latest developments in Ferrari. The dashboard incorporates a new infotainment system with a 10.2-inch touchscreen display.

The Ferrari Portofino will be one of the attractions of the brand stand at the Frankfurt Fair.
