Aircraft pilots are well aware of the active noise reduction systems. David Clark, Lightspeed, and especially Bose, all the major brands of aviation helmets offer. The active reduction of the noise appeared a few years ago. It consists in producing a sound wave opposite to the noise. It cancels this noise and the listener hears only the sound that wants to listen (music or speech).
Ford has just adopted an active noise control system to its high-end Mondeo, S-Max and its latest big edge SUV. Originally proposed on the Lincoln, the manufacturer’s premium brand, not distributed in France, operates in a manner similar to that of a noise-canceling helmet. The system uses three microphones strategically placed in the cab to monitor engine noises in the cockpit and direct opposite sound waves through the audio system to undo these nuisances and improve acoustic comfort even when the entertainment system is off.
The result is quite probative. Our great 2018 Ford Edge Vignale has been particularly quiet on all the roadways we have borrowed. This noise reduction was very pleasant on the long highways, helping to lower the fatigue of the driver is passengers. An exceptional chassis
But as for the much smaller fiesta, we tried a few days ago, the edge we liked for its driving pleasure. The chassis is typically scratched, Ford. It offers excellent alchemy between comfort and handling. This is even more convincing with a vehicle that is flirting empty with the two tons. Aided by a precise adaptive direction, which we had discovered two years ago on the S-Max, it was particularly agile in the changes of course, without taking a lot of lodging, stable in a straight line, and comfortable in all circumstances.

The excellent edge chassis makes it a much nicer ride than its competitor Kia Sorento and can compete without a complex with that of a Volkswagen Touareg. The four-cylinder diesel engine of 210 HP, originally Peugeot, proved to be powerful enough for this vehicle, aided by an automatic “Powershift” double-clutch, reactive and well-storied gearbox. Able to ride more than 200 km/h (211 exactly) and Accelerate to 100 km/h in 9.4 s, the edge shows a fairly content appetite. Do not expect to burn what is written on the official consumption cards (5, L to 100 km), established with fanciful protocols. The 2018 Ford Edge Vignale Gas Mileage consumers in real life between 8 and 9 liters at 100, which is not so bad given its size. It is the rest of its large size that will reveal its main drawback. We are not in America, of course, but some private or public car parks deserve to be a little bit larger. Posted at the catalog price of 55 950 €, it offers an interesting equipment-quality-price ratio, which will be even more so if negotiated a little in concession.
