The compact and yet powerful 2018 Opel Ampera-e claims the greater autonomy of all electric cars on the market. Autonomy of the electric car is still one of the major obstacles to its development. However, at last global auto Paris, Opel introduced an Ampera-e able to ride 520 kilometers, according to the homologation NEDC cycle, which would greatly expand its registry.
For comparison, at the same show, Renault was proud to present an Zoe, with a new battery, capable of running 400 km, and BMW an i3 to 300 km. Apart from the Tesla S P 100 D elitist, credited with 572 km, no other electric car is today able to follow the Opel so far.
A smart motorist knows that it is impossible to reproduce these values of probate in real life. Opel said that according to the future standard WLTP presented as more realistic, the Ampera-e will be 380 km. In practice, the user can therefore expect roll during 300 km, which remains a unique performance to date.
The capacity of a Lithium-ion battery is determined by the chemistry that composes, and also by the number of cells it contains. There are 288, mounted flat and grouped into ten modules, designed in collaboration with LG Chem accumulator. Capacity reached 60 kWh, for a weight of 430 kg.

A ‘Low’ mode increases decelerating energy recovery, and the latter can still be increased on demand, using a palette at the wheel, to stop the vehicle. Using this possibility of maximum regeneration in traffic jams, the gain in autonomy can reach 5%.
With a single on-board charger, the Ampera-e can be recharged on lessee up to 7.4 kW stations running AC and 50 kW running continuous, like that provided by 200 terminals of the Corri-Dor network set up by Sodetrel on French motorways. The Ampera e retrieves then 150 kilometres in 30 minutes.
With a 60 kWh lithium-ion battery, the Opel Ampera-e will not be given. We are talking about a base price of about 39.400 euros, which however will have to subtract an environmental bonus of €6,000, and still €4.000 if you send scrapping an old diesel over ten years.
French customers will have time to reflect, because if the Ampera-e is available in Norway since December, is so requested, particularly due to the announced a tax incentive, what not in France before the end of the year, or even the beginning of the next.
As hope to see someday transferred in a Peugeot or Citroën electric technology of this Opel, it is not question. Despite the acquisition of the brand by PSA, the latter is only limited access in time to the many patents that have been filed by GM for the 2018 Opel Ampera-e and his cousin the Chevrolet Bolt, sold to the United States.
