2019 Kia Pro_Cee’d Concept Preview; Design Exterior & Interior
The 2019 Kia Pro_Cee’d concept foreshadows the new generation of a compact sedan that the Korean brand will launch next year. The compact sedan, launched in 2006, will remain as the first Kia guaranteed 7 years in Europe. In 2012, the successor model is designed and drawn in Germany, under the direction of Peter Schreyer (ex-Audi). Six years will have passed again when the succession arrives next year. The PRO_CEE concept presented in Frankfurt gives us a taste of it.
In 2018, the 5-door sedan and the break’d be the first to be replaced. As for the 3 doors pro_cee ‘ d, to see the prototype of the Korean brand, its days are probably counted. Given the public’s disaffection for the compact 3-door, Kia seems to want to change course to follow the track drawn by the Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake.
The French stylist Gregory Guillaume, head of the Design of Kia Motors for Europe, explains this: many European motorists are currently looking for high-performance alternatives to the 3-door sports sedan, which is why we “We began to imagine a new flagship model radically different from the range”.
Designed in the center of European design located in Frankfurt, not far from the salon, the muscular silhouette of the concept Pro_cee’d be distinguished by a roofline dipping up to the tailgate. This characteristic feature of the hunting break is enhanced by a luminous framing of the glazing that illuminates when the driver approaches.
At the front, the unavoidable “tiger nose” grille and the sculpted engine hood evoke the sporty family Stinger. Profile, a “shark fin” emphasizes the lack of amount, as in a DS3. The prototype is based on 20-inch wheels that help to energize its line, but that one has little chance to find the serial version.
