2020 BMW 7-Series Facelift Exterior

Arrived on the threshold of the middle of a career, the 2020 BMW 7-Series is offered an upgrade aesthetic and technical.

Renewed in 2015, the BMW 7-Series is already one of the oldest models in the range of the Munich manufacturer. Under the product lifecycle and renewal, several models of other series launched after the flagship of the BMW fleet are now more technically advanced. To say that the BMW 7-Series began to date would probably be a little exaggerated but she needed to pump up to resume its role as ambassador of the brand and at the same time to face a competition that is not one to cross the arms.

This is how the 2020 BMW 7-Series complies with the evolution of the BMW style started with the Coupe Series 8 and the X7. The most visible sign of a changing design: the typical BMW grille is 40% larger than the previous version. It now encroaches on the bonnet largely carved and raised by 50 mm. The front bumper is redesigned and it has chromed side vents. The limousine of the Bavarian manufacturer adopts adaptive LED floodlights largely refined. They can equip themselves with the optional laser technology. The stern also benefited from a lot of modifications. It gains in elegance with its 35 mm thinner three-dimensional lights and its refined chrome bar. Exhaust nozzles have also been revised and they are much better integrated.

Inside, the dashboard retains the current design but note that the layout of the steering wheel buttons has been redesigned. The infotainment system receives the latest version of Professional 7.0 offering a more neat display and many possibilities of customization. New upholstery and materials are emerging and help enhance BMW’s limousine status. At the rear, depending on the version and finish, passengers can have standard or optional 10-inch multimedia screens.

2020 BMW 7-Series Engine Specs

The engine program has been extensively revised to confirm the new pollution control requirements. The V12 gasoline M760Li xDrive has a particle filter; the petrol V8 of the 750i now delivers a whopping 530 horsepower. As for the three mechanical six-cylinder diesel, they display a respective power of 265 hp, 320 hp, and 400 hp.

The latest version 750d still benefits from four turbochargers. Finally, the rechargeable hybrid version benefits from the latest developments of the group. Now called 745th, this electrified version shares its technology with the recently introduced X5 xDrive45e.

The four-cylinder of the old version 740e is replaced by a six-cylinder in-line 3-liter direct injection petrol of 286 hp. Associated with an electric motor of 113 horses, this model delivers a cumulated power of 394 horses. If the performances are excellent (0 to 100 km / h in 5.2 seconds), CO2 emissions are able to stay below 50 g/km (48 g / km), which corresponds to a consumption approved at 2.1 l / 100 km. These flattering figures result from an electric autonomy that can reach according to the manufacturer 58 km when the batteries are recharged.

The 745e is also capable of pushing peaks up to 140 km/h in the silence of electric propulsion. Under these conditions, the silence should be golden since the New BMW 7-Series has a side glass acoustic glass. In terms of equipment, the BMW limousine receives the latest refinements in terms of driving assistance and autonomous driving systems. Finally, the Park Assist system, which now includes the recoil assist, is now standard equipment.
