2020 Ford Focus; Redesign, Specs & Release Date
Here is The 2020 Ford Focus, Ford has totally redesigned the Focus which is seen in two new finishes, a luxurious named Vignale and an adventurer called Active.
The Focus, Ford compact sedan, is one of the few global cars marketed on the five continents. A bestseller for the firm at the Blue Oval which, since its launch in 1998, has sold sixteen million of which seven million in Europe.
2020 Ford Focus Redesign & Changes
As much as to say that at the time of conceiving the fourth generation revealed today, Prudence had to be put in. To look at it, this new Focus designed on the original C2 platform does not have a common body part with its predecessor.
The increased wheelbase of 53 mm and the longer and lower engine cowling contribute to the redesign of the lines. The length increases by about 2 cm to reach 4.38 m, which puts the Focus among the longest compacts, alongside the Renault Megane. The volume of the trunk progresses from 25 liters to 388 liters but remains indented from the 420 liters of a Peugeot 308.
As its width does not increase (1.82 m) and its height is slightly down to 1.48 m, this benefits the aerodynamics. Ford announces a Cx of 0.273 for the 5-door version, an excellent value that contributes to the reduction of consumption, as well as a decrease of the mass of 88 kg with equal equipment.
Focus Engine Specs & Trims
On the engines side, the owner of the new Focus will have the choice of two 3-cylinder turbo petrol EcoBoost and two 4-cylinders turbodiesels EcoBlue. All will be delivered with automatic shut-off and 6-speed manual transmission. The most powerful versions can be coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The two turbo petrol 3-cylinders are equipped with a low-acceleration cylinder deactivation system. The 1 liter will be available in 85 Horsepower, 100 ch, and 125 Hp, while the 1.5 liters, inaugurated in 210 ch by Fiesta ST, will be proposed here in 150 Hp and 182 Hp. Côté turbodiesel, the small 1.5 liters, the fruit of a collaboration with PSA, will provide 95 HP and 120 HP, and the 2 liter House 150 ea.
Ford announces a more rigid platform, a new rear-axle anchorage, and optional piloted damping, all of which will result in improved road efficiency as well as comfort. It is noted that the ST Line sporting finish lowers the 10 mm plate, while the Active adventurer increases it to the contrary of 30 mm.
In the interior, Evolution recalls the one recently operated in the cockpit of the Fiesta. This includes the elevated position, in the driver’s field of view, of the 8-inch touchscreen. More surprisingly, the automatic gearbox control is carried out via a rotary knob, as at Jaguar and Land Rover, two brands that belonged to Ford.
Not surprisingly, the list of driving aids and comfort equipment is lengthened. The 2020 Ford Focus is the first Ford sold in Europe with a high head display. The combination of an intelligent speed controller, panel recognition, and line maintenance also allows for Level 2 self-drive.
The launch of the fourth generation of Focus will be done in two times. A first wave is expected in June which will be limited to the 5 Doors petrol 85 hp, 100 ch and 125 HP, and diesel 120 hp, but without automatic gearbox and not in all finishes.
