2020 Lagonda Vision Concept; The Autonomous Monster!
In Geneva, the Aston Martin Reveal The 2020 Lagonda Vision Concept, this amazing vehicle combines luxury, electricity, and autonomous driving.
History sometimes likes to repeat itself. The label, owned by Aston Martin since 1947, seems to be designed to design and manufacture non-standard vehicles. Remember the famous Aston Martin la Gonda produced in the years 1970-1980. Its huge body with shapes in corner slashing with everything that rolled. Inside, its sensory buttons and mini-TVs, sources of innumerable failures, were innovative solutions. This competitor declared Rolls-Royces and Bentleys. Did not have a great success: it was not produced to 1.000 copies. Called a masterpiece by some, worse car ever imagined by others, it did not contribute to the fortune of its builder. The brand disappeared for a quarter of a century before being reborn in 2014 with the very confidential Taraf, a large sedan sold almost a million euros appreciated by a clientele of the Middle East.
2020 Lagonda Vision Features
Aston Martin today unveils a 2020 Lagonda Vision Concept prototype that combines both luxury, electricity, and autonomous driving. Its corner shapes evoke those of its ancestor but brought back to the taste of the day. The result is amazing but also a bit strange. Inside, occupants, passengers and potential drivers, lay their feet on silk rugs, caress cashmere, and lean on hand-made wool seats. As on the Mercedes F 015, the seats can swivel so that the passengers can face each other. The steering wheel then retracts and collapses into the dashboard.
Still, like the F 015 (Aston Martin using the Star brand for some of its engines), the 2020 Lagonda Vision Concept is an electric car that would be able, says its builder, to travel more than 650 km with a load. It remains to be known which clientele this type of vehicle can interest. The Maybach experience, a mark taken from the Oblivion by DaimlerChrysler in 2002 and stopped ten years later, proved that the very wealthy motorists traveled little more than 200 km by car, using the aircraft beyond that distance. But the large reclining armchairs will allow in Beijing or Dubai to make a pleasant small amount during the traffic jams.
