2020 Lexus ES 300h is a luxury sedan that has just been launched by the premium brand of Toyota. It offers an elegant exterior and interior with a touch of quality ingredients.
The ES 300 is not dated yesterday since the first model of Toyota’s premium brand was launched in the U.S. territory in 1989. But this is a whole new story for Europe since this seventh generation of this Lexus will be the first one marketed on the old Continent.
This competitor of the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes class C benefits for this occasion a new chassis developed from the platform “Global Architecture-K” (“GA-K”), also used by the Toyota Camry. Compared to its predecessor, it is 65 mm (4 975 mm) longer. It is also lower 5 mm and wider by 45 mm. The elongated wheelbase (+ 50 mm) ensures better habitability and shorter cantilevers. The GA-K platform allowed the hood line to be lowered to give the vehicle a plunging silhouette. According to its custom, the Lexus design team has equipped this new ES 300 with a gaping grille.

The driving position is oriented towards the driver and has a central display and a high head display for certain information. Wi-Fi connection is available in combination with the optional navigation system and a 12.3-inch multimedia display. A model F SPORT will look a little different with a “Hadori” finish inspired, according to Lexus, “by the traditional art of making Japanese sabres.” It offers an adaptive variable suspension (“AVS”) identical to that of the LC coupe, as well as a “Sport +” mode that accentuates the responsiveness of the engine, transmission, and suspension settings.
The grille of the F SPORT models is also specific, with a cross pattern against vertical strips for the finishing of the standard ES 300. The latter adopted the materials usually used today by Lexus, such as “Shimamoku” wood and bamboo.
On the transmission side, the car receives the new and fourth generation Toyota-designed hybrid system for its Prius now over twenty years ago. It is the only engine that will be available in Europe. This system combines a petrol engine with a 2.5 liters capacity operating on the Atkinson cycle (improved efficiency) and a lighter, more compact and more powerful electric motor than the previous generation. The battery (nickel-metal hydride), also more compact than before, could be lodged behind the rear seats without intruding on the trunk. The total power output at 218 hp and the average consumption of this new 2020 Lexus ES 300h would be 4.7 liters in mixed cycle.
Toyota, the mother house of Lexus, also takes advantage of this edition of the Beijing Trade show to invest a little more in the electric in China, announcing the commercialization of ten new models electrified by the end 2020 in the Middle Kingdom, including a version of its compact C-HR/Izoa crossover. The rechargeable hybrid Corolla and Levin announced today will be marketed in 2019. The Japanese brand sold in China nearly 140 000 vehicles electrified in 2017, some of which are made on-site.
