Totally eclipsed by the success of the Peugeot 3008, the 2020 Renault Kadjar is trying to find colors through a makeover touching the style, equipment and driving pleasure.
If the balance of power turns to the advantage of the Sochaux model, on a world scale, the situation of Kadjar is far from catastrophic. Since 2015, Renault has sold more than 450,000 copies worldwide, representing around 50 markets. This honorable result does not prevent it was time for the SUV Billancourt resume colors at the time of tipping in the second half of his career. Laurens van den Acker’s team has therefore focused on making 2020 Renault Kadjar more attractive. It will take an eye exercised to realize that the calendar has been enlarged and that it is adorned with chrome strips. If the optics remain unchanged, they flatter themselves of a new light signature thanks to LED indicators integrated into the daytime running lights.
The shields lose their plastic appearance by taking the cash tint and welcoming rectangular fog lights. The design of the rear has also been redesigned and the indicators include LEDs. As for the reversing lights and fog, they are now integrated into the shield, giving a more statutory appearance to this SUV. Seen from behind, the Kadjar now evokes his older brother Koleos.
It is inside that the important evolutions are concentrated. The dashboard has been redesigned to incorporate a new 7-inch touch screen. Disappointment, however: Renault did not go so far as to install the large vertical slab of Space, which would have forced to change the central console. The controls for automatic climate control come from the latest Dacia Duster.
Renault claims special care for perceived quality and assembly. The aerators are now chrome-rimmed and the window regulator decks are now backlit. New color harmonies and suede upholstery help to enhance Kadjar’s status. Engineers’ efforts have also focused on improving comfort and enjoyment on a daily basis. The design of the seats is more ergonomic, the ventilation is more efficient in the rear seats and the door bins have been enlarged to accommodate larger bottles.
2020 Renault Kadjar Engine Specs
Under the Hood, the Kadjar hosts the latest 4-cylinder 1.3-liter TCe direct injection petrol. Already equipped with Captur and Scenic, this engine is equipped with a particulate filter. Developed with the help of Mercedes, the 1.3 TCe comes in two power levels, 140 and 160 hp, and can be combined with two transmissions, 6-speed manual, and dual EDC clutch. Two types of diesel also appear on the program, the Blue dCi 115 hp and the Blue dCi 150 (+ 20 hp). These blocks are equipped with a selective catalytic reduction system (SCR) for the treatment of nitrogen oxides (NOx). The most powerful diesel to receive the 4×4 transmission. The new Kadjar will begin its commercial career at the end of the year.
