Skoda also seems to believe in the sport hybrid, since the manufacturer unveiled the 2020 Skoda Vision RS at the Paris Motor Show, a hybrid concept car of 245 horses with the look of compact sports.
With the tightening of environmental standards and a penalty that strikes always earlier and stronger, the only way to market a sports car retaining a pleasant sound and autonomy worthy of the name seems to be hybridization.
Skoda takes this path with its Vision RS concept. It embodies the compact sports of tomorrow according to the Czech manufacturer. It is, of course, connected and integrates “Alexa”, the voice service of Amazon, that we can ask, for example, the remaining battery life and distance to go to the next gas station.
2020 Skoda Vision RS Powertrain
The union of the 1.5-liter 1.5-liter TSI 150 horsepower with an electric motor provides 245 horsepower cumulative, the same figure as the current Skoda Octavia RS. In terms of C02 emissions, the magic of the regulation applying to the hybrid operates: the 2020 Skoda Vision RS emits only 33 g of CO2 / km against 146 g / km for the Octavia.
The announced performances, on the other hand, miss a little spice. The 0 to 100 requires 7.1 seconds and the top speed is 210 km / h, against 6.6 seconds and 250 km / h for his big sister thermal. The overload caused by the battery and the electric motor is certainly not unrelated to these results.
Three driving modes are selectable: “Normal” which combines the two engines for a better power/consumption ratio, “EV” which is an all-electric mode and “Sport” which unleashes the 245 horses of the concept. In “EV” mode Skoda announces a range of 70 km, which is about twenty kilometers higher than current plug-in hybrids.
