Aston Martin Valkyrie: Most Breathtaking Engine
Aston Martin Valkyrie, the Hypercar of the English brand will be equipped with an atmospheric V12 of 1000 horses, turning at 11,100 revolutions/minute.
Vehicles produced in small series for the road, aimed at homologating a model in competition. A principle that will bring back many memories buried in the minds of racing enthusiasts and lovers of exceptional cars. In the 1980s, the regulation of the Rally “Group B” had imposed this type of provisions, and gave birth, for example, to the thundering Peugeot 205 T16 and other Audi Sport Quattro.
In the 1990s, the GT1 class of the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans event also allowed the creation of race cars for the road, like the Porsche 911 GT1, McLaren F1, Mercedes CLK-GTR or Nissan R390. This process disappeared later, but in 2021, the story will be repeated on the circuit of Sarthe with the new category Hypercar.

The model that Aston Martin will circulate on our roads to align a car on the starting grid in 2021, is called Valkyrie. It will be produced to 175 copies, but all have already found takers, at a rate close yet the three million euros. The British brand wanted to give it the purest and most efficient engine possible. Result: the turbos, although popular on the current sports models, have been ruled out here to give way to an atmospheric V12.
Performance – Hybrid
With the help of Cosworth, the mechanics of the Aston Martin Valkyrie, with a displacement of 6.5 liters, develops 1000 horses and 740 Nm of torque. That’s an outstanding performance of 153.8 horsepower per liter without the help of any overheating. Better yet: the maximum power is reached at 10,500 rpm, and the pleasure eventually extends to 11,100 revolutions/minute! Figures that no car homologated for the road can claim. Another feat, the block weighs only 206 kilos despite its high engine capacity. It will certainly be coupled with a hybridization system, but the characteristics of the latter remain unknown for the moment.
This hypercar category will make endurance races even more thrilling, but also create a new generation of gear again pushing the limits of performance while being exciting by their various technical choices. The Mercedes-AMG Project One, for example, even dares to embark on a mechanic inherited from a single-seat car, the Formula 1.
