Nissan IMs – New Autonomous Sedan | Futuristic Design
Here is the Nissan IMs Concept. The Japanese automaker has unveiled at the Detroit show its vision of the electric and autonomous sedan. A really confusing concept.
Nissan designers would have lost the north? Their latest concept, exhibited at the Detroit show, presents puzzling shapes. Around an envelope, 4.84 m long, 1.90 m wide and 1.50 m high, the manufacturer signs a silhouette that is unlikely to compete at the first prize of beauty. The very rounded front featuring a closed grille and scarred by a light signature boomerang-like is reminiscent of a whale. As for the back, it reveals sharp edges The cabin drawn in a circular arc in a single stroke energizes a set lacking homogeneity. In its statement, the manufacturer himself speaks of “rupture in the design of the Nissan IMs”. If the lines hit the spirits, the coefficient of penetration into the air could be reduced through integrated door handles and the abandonment of mirrors, in favor of cameras..
Nissan IMs Interior
The cockpit rocks in the new world of the autonomous car. The dashboard that extends across the width of the car incorporates a digital screen. The switch to electric motorization has made it possible to rethink the architecture and to eliminate the central tunnel. The steering wheel looks like a submarine periscope. The interior is flexible. The IMs crossover can accommodate only one passenger in a central position at the rear after folding down the side seats.
Nissan IMs Powertrain
The IMs concept is based on an unprecedented electric propulsion platform. Equipped with two electric motors, one per axle, the Nissan IMs is thus a four-wheel drive vehicle. The combined power stands at 483 horsepower and torque at 800 Nm. The engines power a 115 kW battery installed in the floor. The manufacturer claims a range of 612 km according to the WVTA standard.
